Primary Certificate in Advanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Skills
CONTENT
This is an intensive 2-day programme for learners enrolled on a Certificate/Advanced Certificate/Diploma programme run by the Centre. The course takes a cognitive-behavioural approach to counselling, psychotherapy and stress management. The course includes developing a cognitive case-conceptualisation and examining three levels of cognition. It includes theoretical input and time to practise the techniques and skills discussed. For the purposes of skills training, participants should be prepared to discuss one or two personal problems. Normal rules of confidentiality apply. However, the course is not an opportunity to work out personal issues which may need the support of personal therapy.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
It is important to note that this programme is run specifically for learners who have already undertaken module 1 in the Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, ie the Primary Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Training. However, the course may also be suitable for students with some basic CBT training obtained from another course.
The programmes are suitable for counsellors, psychologists, personnel staff, trainers, psychotherapists, health and caring professionals who wish to learn more about stress counselling and management. It is essential that applicants have an understanding and working knowledge of basic cognitive-behavioural theory and practice. Individuals who have received no formal training in these areas should initially attend the relevant primary certificate courses at the Centre. If in doubt, please check with the Centre before enrolling.
